Silent ecstatic dance: move freely, in silence
Free movement, no choreography, music that rises and falls like a wave. In headphones ecstatic dance can happen anywhere, even early in the morning or in a city park, and everyone chooses their own volume and, if you like, their own DJ.

The dance floor inside the headphones
Ecstatic dance began as a free-movement practice: no alcohol, no phones, no talking on the dance floor, just music and body. It needs a full sound, and that is exactly why it often struggles to find a place in cities, in the morning or in venues that close early.
In headphones the music is intense for the dancers and non-existent for everyone else. The facilitator guides the warm-up and the closing with their voice, then leaves space for the music. With three channels you can offer different musical journeys, and the headphone LEDs show at a glance who is on which channel.
Why headphones
Full sound, zero noise
The dancers hear the music as on a dance floor; outside it stays quiet.
Up to three journeys
Three DJs or three playlists on different channels: everyone picks theirs.
The colour of the channel
With LED headphones you see right away who is on which channel.
In the morning, in the city
Sunrise sessions, lunch breaks, urban parks.
Voice facilitation
Opening and closing guided in the headphones, no microphone on stage.
Closing with lights off
In the final moment of stillness the lights switch off.
A session, like a wave
Circle and intention
The facilitator welcomes the group with their voice in the headphones.
Slow rhythms
The body warms up to soft music, each at their own volume.
The full wave
The music rises: intense on the floor, unheard around it.
Slowing down
The rhythm drops and the voice returns to guide the breath.
Lights off
A few minutes of silence and rest, then the closing words.

Tips for facilitating in headphones
- One channel, then two. In the first session use a single channel; once the group is used to it, offer two or three musical journeys.
- A safe space. With music in headphones people sense those nearby less: leave space between dancers and clear obstacles from the floor.
- Conscious volume. Remind everyone that they set the volume: no one has to listen louder than they want.
- Batteries. Long sessions are normal: always start fully charged.
Questions about silent ecstatic dance
How is it different from a silent disco?
The equipment is the same, the intention is not: ecstatic dance is a conscious movement practice, alcohol-free, with a musical journey designed as an arc. If you are looking for a headphone party, see silent-disco-party.com.
Can we have several DJs?
Yes: one transmitter per DJ, up to three channels. Dancers switch from one DJ to another with a button and the headphone LED changes colour.
Can it be done outdoors?
Yes, and it is one of the cases where headphones make the difference: full music for the dancers, no noise issues around. In public areas, check the local rules.
